Another T460s won't start
Another T460s won't start
My daughter's T460s will no longer boot up. After spending hours searching this topic, I have tried everything I found.
I first thought it was the 2 batteries, which I just replaced with new ones.
When I plug in the charger, the green light by the charging port comes on.
Tried all of the steps I found, including:
Remove the new baterries
Using a paper clip to reset CMOS
Disconnecting the CMOS battery, waiting a few minutes, connect it back and put the batteries back in
Holding the power-on button for 30 seconds, then for 3 seconds
At one point, after hitting the power button, it flashed 3 times quickly
Still cannot get it to power on at all.
Any more ideas what I could try?

Few more things to try:
- reseat RAM sticks
- booting without HDD/SSD
- external monitor in case the LCD is 'gone'
- another charger

Re: Another T460s won't start
Thanks for the suggestions, but still a no-go. The issue is that it won't even power on.
I don't have access to another charger that will work with this machine, but when I plug the power cord in, the green light on that port lights up. Wouldn't that mean that the unit is getting power from the charger?

Thanks @TPFanatic, good idea. Can't find the old docking station, so I just ordered one from Amazon. At least I can return it if it doesn't work.
I did notice something today when troubleshooting again.
As mentioned previously, when I connect the charger, the green light next to the port does come on. I had the lid open when I just tried it again and noticed that the power button does blink 3 times when I connect the charger. Wondering if those 3 blinks mean anything.
Will report back after testing with the dock.

Re: Another T460s won't start
a brief google search for lenovo forums results of similar symptoms is not looking promising... seems when other folks encounter this issue, they don't get any further than you.

worst case scenario the mainboard has given up the ghost. I feel like with the age of T460s and the low prices of replacement functional laptops even of newer generations, may be most economical to retire and replace the T460s.
