Morning
I have swapped the T440p clunkpad for the three button Synaptics touchpad from the T450. It looks and feels great, however I have 2 small issues with it.
I don't really know how to explain this but when I run my finger along it at what I'd consider a normal touchpad usage speed and then stop, the cursor moves back slightly from the way it came. If I run my finger along it slowly, the issue isn't there.
The other issue is when I use to two fingers to scroll down a page. For a while just after the laptop has been turned on, when scrolling down a page and stopping but keeping my fingers on the pad (to read or look before carrying on) the screen shakes a lot. It is like the sensitivity is very high, yet the speed of moving up and down is fine.
It is also important for me to also mention that I am on Linux, specifically Arch, so any Windows based approach probably wont work.
I'll also be posting this or something similarly worded to the Linux forums, for any Linux based ideas, rather than ThinkPad and ThinkPad hardware based ideas or solutions.

Re: T440p Synaptics touchpad swap issues
I have an Alps touchpad+buttons on my T440p.
I only wanted it for the buttons, for those rare occasions when I have no mouse available.
The pad itself I have disabled in BIOS.
Anyway, you could maybe try Alps instead of Synaptics?
My T440p has W7 on it and is only an emergency spare.

Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)
