[Question] Does X280 i3 4gb soldered only have one slot of ram?

#1 Post by benlimanto » Thu Dec 14, 2023 10:07 am

Hello, I'm thinking of buying X280 i3 8130u for my daily driver, as I sold my X220 just 1 month ago. I just want to make sure, even with 4gb ram, I can still upgrade it. The question is, does X280 has more than one slot, or only one slot with one soldered? Or it doesn't even possible to upgrade the ram at all? Thank you
X220 with Win 10 21H2 Fedora 38 XFCE 4.18 (official spins)
i7-2640m, disabled Hyper Thread, Temp Drop on average 10*C, all core activated, need KVM for Windows
12gb RAM (enough for now, DDR3L)
480 Kingston Fake SSD
64gb Samsung SD Card
Recently rolled back to Windows 7 from Win 10 21H2. Sad

According to the specs, the X280 offers 4GB, 8GB or 16GB soldered to the board with no slot available.
ThinkPad L14 - 2.1GHz Ryzen 4650U | 16GB | 256GB | 14" FHD | Win11P
ProBook 470 G5 - 1.6GHz Core i5 | 16GB | 2.2TB | 17" FHD | Mint

Also, stay away from X280 with any i3 or i5-7xxxU or i7-7xxxU, they are 2-core CPUs.
Go for i5-8xxxU or i7-8xxxU CPU, all only with 4, 8 or 16 GB soldered RAM.

I'm thinking of buying i3 gen 8 because of dual core, i just uope the battery with oem could stand long, as I use it with linux and for remote purpose. Hahaha....

So it's soldered and I must be picky whether it's ram is 16gb or not. Ah..

Thanks.
