Motherboard upgrade for W550s
Hi people,
I'm quite tired of my W550s performance. Display is exquisite, and general building quality too, but that [censored] CPU cannot sustain sizeable workloads
I would renounce to Quadro GPU in order to get more CPU squeeze
Do you know if there is an aftermarket alternative??
Thanks in advance

Re: Motherboard upgrade for W550s
On the W550s the CPU is soldered, plus it is a low-voltage CPU, so forget about a CPU upgrade, let alone a quad-core.
I would suggest to look at the previous generation W540 or W541 (preferred) instead.
They were the last ones (plus the T440p) with an upgradable CPU.
Or spend a lot more money and hunt for a P51.

Re: Motherboard upgrade for W550s
Thanks, RealBlackStuff. But I mean the entire motherboard. Do you know if there is an aftermarket replacement with a less [censored] CPU? After certain W10 upgrades, performance dropped abysmally...
I have been searching for an entire motherboard replacement, without result. I would like to know if that is possible or not.
Thanks in advance

Thank you very much. It’s a shame that such a nice device has been handicapped so much
