W541 BIOS upgrade -- USB stick?

#1 Post by vinnielt » Sat Sep 27, 2025 2:00 am

Wanting to upgrade my W541 BIOS from [ v: GNET78WW (2.26 ) date: 01/26/2016 ] to the latest [ gnuj39us.iso v: 2.42 ]. The download is described as "BIOS Update (Bootable CD)".

Does anyone know if it's possible to put this on a USB stick rather than CD? I've tried various ways without success. I can obtain a CD burner if absolutely necessary, I suppose; but it would sure be nice if it could simply be stored on a USB stick. Potential complication is that I have no "Windows". It's all Linux here.

Thanks much for any guidance.
Tom

RealBlackStuff:

Seems to be just what I needed. Updated as expected. It eliminates one of the biggest potential causes of a Linux problem I'm seeing, so now back to the Linux forums to dig in deeper.

Thanks again.
