W530 Trackpad Issues

#1 Post by thealphaoverseer » Fri Jul 03, 2020 6:07 am

Hi Everyone!
I'm without a mouse, so I tried to use the trackpad. The cursor moves erratically. Sometimes it will suddenly stop moving and then freeze, and start moving after I click. Other times, it might start scrolling the page. It might even suddenly return to its original position after I start moving it. Do I need to replace my trackpad?

Use the trackPOINT (a.k.a. red nub) instead, until you fix the problem.
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)
But I actually prefer Murphy's from Cork!

Recently had a similar issue with a W530. Like RBS said I disabled the trackpad in the BIOS and only used the trackpoint. There was no longer an issue.

When I replaced the keyboard though for an issue with one or two of the keys then re-enabled the trackpad in the BIOS just for the heck of it there was no longer an issue with the trackpad.

Go figure.

Thanks! Unfortunately, my Trackpoint fell out at some stage and I am unable to locate it. Anyway, while I still had it, it was difficult to use; when I wanted my cursor to go somewhere, it moved too slowly. When I put more force, it zoomed across the screen. I might get a replacement trackpoint - is it worth the price?
