How to calibrate the monitor? (and get details about it?)

#1 Post by wrybread » Fri Jan 29, 2021 2:27 pm

My new to me W530 has an odd white balance, especially obvious when it's next to any other laptop. The whites are very tan. In other threads I see people mentioning calibrating it. Any tips on where to do that?

I'm using Win10, but will also be using Linux Mint, if anyone has tips about that too.

And how do I find out which monitor I have? Mine is 1080p, but I don't think it's the super bright monitor. In the past I saw someone upgrading the monitor in his W530, and when placed side by side with my T530 his was one level brighter than my T530. In other words one more button press of the brightness button. I don't know which monitor he had, but reading here I assume it was the B156HW01 v4.

Does yours have the integrated calibrator by chance? (I think it would be on the palmrest, and look similar to the fingerprint scanner)

Wow, that's interesting, I didn't know such a thing existed. But alas no, not on mine.

For anyone else curious, here's a video about it:

Clever.
