My X1 Yoga Gen 3 fingerprint reader doesn't work at all. BIOS says "not fingerprint device is attached." So I thought maybe the sensor board is dead. I buy a fully tested one from eBay and install it. It still doesn't work. So now I decide to test the cable. The cable has some broken traces; so I buy a new fully tested cable and it still doesn't work. I then test the pins on the connector that's on the motherboard side--6 out of 8 of the pins are shorted to ground.
I'm wondering if someone can give me some points on which ICs to test and replace.
