In my mind it's sort of the same thing as wiping clean and re-installing after a system has been compromised, because there is no way to really be sure...
Besides that, why would you want to continue to use software from a company who is your adversary? I finally got sick enough of it some years ago and installed GNU/Linux, and (after some initial months of dual booting) never looked back. And I have never been happier. You don't need to worry about any more of this sort of nonsense (which I only expect to continue to get worse). There are a lot of other benefits, too.
More info in the link in my sig, if I have piqued anyone's interest. Because it was not until I got my head around the notion of "Free (as in Freedom) Software" that it all fell into place for me.
Cheers,
TRS-80

All good things are Wild and Free.
What is free software and why is it so important for society?
(2022) Actively on the lookout for for 15" T60 FlexView / Hydis LED displays and parts, for my own usage. Kindly PM me your demands if you are willing to part with anything.

With W11 and their TPM, Trusted Enforced Platform Module requirement, I hope the remaining blind people will start to see the lightTRS-80 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 02, 2021 5:13 pmBesides that, why would you want to continue to use software from a company who is your adversary? What kind of issue are you having with the WiFi? Is the card itself detected? Is the WiFi radio somehow disabled? Can you detect wireless access points but not connect to them?
Ubuntu is supposed to be the easy-for-beginners distro, so I'm a bit befuddled that you're having trouble.
