Can't enter wifi-Password in a hotel or anywhere else?

#1 Post by RealBlackStuff » Mon Dec 22, 2025 2:31 am

Last week I went away for a few days and stayed in a hotel.
For some unknown reason I could not enter the hotel wifi-password on my T480 with W10 Enterprise LTSC 2021.
On my wife's X250 with W10 Pro she could enter it no problem.
For almost 2 days I hunted around for a solution, none of the ones I found, worked!
Until I came across an obscure Indian website named Harsha.
There I finally found a working solution:
Run the program ctfmon.exe and off you go!
See instructions in the above solution and Bob's your uncle!
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)
But I actually prefer Murphy's from Cork!

Good find. I wonder what caused ctfmon to stop running in the first place.

Never had that issue in any hotel and would probably look askance at a solution that came from a unknown source like that.
