Quick Launch Icons on holiday?

#1 Post by ian » Tue Jul 13, 2004 5:15 pm

New T-42 WinXP SP1 etc. Tiny problem - from time to time I lose the quick launch icons from the task bar when I restart the system. Anyone know how to glue these into place please?

Read this thread. I posted a possible solution, but I don't know if it works. Give it a try!

Yeah, I asked that a while back....and Gman solved the problem with his suggestion.

If you want the quick answer, its this: delete the "Desktop.ini" file in the Quick launch folder. To find this folder, go to one of the icons in the quick launch folder and right-click, select properties. click on the General tab, and highlight and copy the line that says "Location:". Paste this into windows explorer, and youre there.

Thank you to G-man and Benz - however, the desktop.ini isn't present in the Quick Launch folder - this said, I haven't lost the icons this reboot either (!) - at least now I'll know where to look if it happens again.

Many thanks
