Hi everybody,
I received a T60 with XP Pro installed a few months ago. Yesterday I tried to clean install Vista following the instructions here in the forum.
The installation went just fine, but the recovery partition was no longer accessable during start-up and was visible inside Windows. I had expect nothing else, after what I'd read here.
Still I thought, I would be able to repair that quickly by installing Rescue and Recovery 4 for Vista.
And that's the problem. I just can't seem to be able to do that.
I've tried the German version (since I'm from Germany), the English version (changing all the locales beforehand) and the version for all languages, but it keeps popping up that Error 25011 telling me something about not being able to find the correct .tvt files whatsoever.
Does anyone know how I can complete the installation of RnR? Or do you think it would be better to just go back to XP? (I think I've read something about a RnR repair cd (not diskette), but I can't find it right now. Does anyone know?)
Thank you for reading.
Sorry, meant to put it in Vista. Obviously without success. :/
Rescue and Recovery after Vista installation
Hi,
I had same problem and I reinstalled whole system due to this probably 5 times. I think, the only solution is to let US locale settings in vista installation. after that, i could install r&r on new system and I'm using it till now but still with US locales. Another strange thing is, now I can see ibm_service partirion as normal partition and it is also active when I press ThinkVantage button at start.
But I have another problem with r&r, I cannot make Recovery Media, after pressing the button it shows me "An internal error has caused this process to fail".

I am not sure how installing Rescue and Recovery 4 will affect your system, but you may have damaged it where the Rescue and Recovery Repair diskette will not fix it. The Rescue and Recovery Repair Diskette is what should have been used to fix the MBR.
Rescue and Recovery - Recovery repair diskette

Thank you, bodik.
I reinstalled Vista with US locales and everything worked fine.
I've downloaded the all language version of RnR 4 and installed it without any problems.
The partition is hidden again, and I'm able to access it during start-up.
GomJabbar,
I had already feared I might have damaged it beyond the point of repair. Luckily I was wrong.
