Thinkpad 600X Windows XP Pro Fresh Install

#1 Post by perose » Fri Feb 26, 2010 6:28 pm

I recently replaced the hard drive in my 600X with a 60 gig and did a fresh install from CD of Windows XP Pro (SP3). The system seems to be working fine after going to the Lenovo website and getting the necssary drivers etc. The one issue that I'm having is when I close the cover or force the computer into hibernation mode I can't get it to wake up by any keyboard or mouse action. To get back running I need to power down and restart.

Can anyone offer suggestions on how to work around this? If needed I can wipe the disk and start over as I may have inadvertently goofed something up. Is there any special disk that I need to acquire to get the machine set up correctly? The only disks that I have are old Win 98 disks from '99 when I purchased the system.

System is a Thinkpad 600X, Type 2645-3EU, ITET55WW BIOS, 578 MB RAM, 60 GB HD, DVD/CD

Thanks!!

Welcome to the forum!

When you use Windows hibernation, the computer is fully powered off with an image of your current workspace stored on the HDD for a quick boot. Sounds like what you want to do is "suspend" instead of "hibernate".
