P17 Gen 2 charger

I got a p17 Gen 2 at my company which I bought new, and I'm not sure if it ever did charge but I noticed fairly quickly that it is not charging the battery.
It will not even register in windows as plugged in, but the battery does not lower when plugged in.
in lenovo diagonstics, it will show the laptop is plugged in when it is and unplugged when it isnt, but it will still not charge.
it was included with a 170w charger which is what I've tried. Along with an older 170w and a 135w.

Should I go through a service process, or first buy a 230w charger and try that? I woundnt think it would need the 230 if it wasnt shipped with it and only has the a2000

I opened it and removed the battery, and then I plugged it in and powered it on.
After booting the laptop all the way to the windows login, the charge indicator came on as orange, so I powered it back off and reinstalled the battery.
It now functions correctly and charges the battery, and I get a functional charge indicator quickly after plug insertion, and charging status in windows.

With that I was able to then charge it and update the bios/EC if that is the issue maybe.
