No harddisk info in BIOS??
No harddisk info in BIOS??
When I enter BIOS I cannot seem to find anything about my harddisk. Does anyone else have a BIOS that lacks this kind of information? My model is T40/p
1) try powermax, http://www.maxtor.com.
2) can be done through windows device manager. select ide channel, tab 'advanced settings'.

Ok you mean that I can change my harddisk to LBA in winXP? But I guess it will only apply when I use winXP and not when I use linux.
Will Powermax work with the Hitachi harddrives that IBM use, and was it not this kind of software that was supposed to change harddrive modes instead of doing it from winXP?

Windows lets you choose between parallel input/output and direct memory access. Do you use Linux or Windows? Why do you want a slower transfer mode instead of a faster one? What do you mean by a "kind of software that was supposed to change harddrive modes instead of doing it from winXP"? Please clarify. Also, please note that you are posting in the T2x/T30 forum.
Sorry for posting in the wrong group, it was a mistake.
I use both Linux and Windows (multiboot).
Originally I was wondering why its not possible to change harddisk mode/type in the BIOS (LBA, AUTO etc).
I got the above replies saying that this could be changed in windows or with a 3th party program powermax. But I don't think that is what I am looking for because then it will only apply when I use winXP.
I would like to see the different modes that my harddisk can use because I get an error in Ubuntu Linux concerning LBA mode, but since its not possible to change anything in the BIOS for the harddisk I am not sure there is much to do.
