T40 cpu scaling in fc2

#1 Post by wertwert » Fri Sep 24, 2004 12:21 am

I've modified my cpuspeed.conf file for it to reflect my cpu as a centrino, however gnome cpu scaling applet constantly shows my cpu speed as 600MHz even while on ac.

Can anyone tell me where have I gone wrong?

try to compile something or do anything that will require 100% cpu usage.

in theory the indicator should then show the max freq.

otherwise something is wrong with either the conf file or the cpufreqd has crashed and needs to be restarted (happens with me sometimes)

The cpuspeed daemon does not change its policy if ac is plugged in. Really, do you want the fan running at high speed just because you are on AC?

even Win puts the CPU at 600MHz when on AC and increases it only when it is needed. Hence I modified my cpufreqd.conf to do the same. (I even constrained it to 1GHz max when on battery to save even more then).

I can attach my .conf if you are interested...
