Are there issues with installing linux on an X41 with a security chip (I don't recall the model number)? When I try to load Suse 11.0, the installation fails while attempting to install the boot loader. Is this due to the security chip? If so, any idea how to deal with it?
Thanks,
bartelby
Installing linux on X41 w/security chip
Doubtful, I've installed SuSE 11.0 on my T60p without issue with the TPM chip. Does SuSE give you any specific errors when trying to install GRUB? Is this a dual boot setup, do you have partitions already created, etc. Some more info may be helpful.
You can try going into the BIOS and clearing the TPM chip (just be careful about HDD passwords and any software that might have used the TPM chip before) but, again, I doubt the chip is related.

Never have I ran into an issue with security chip and any Linux distro, SuSE included. Haven't tested 11 yet, but don't see why it would behave any differently than the previous ones in that respect.
