Given up on T41
Hiya,
I gave up on the T41 I was meant to get, FedEx are collecting the T40 that was sent, and I am getting my money back.
In return my T23 is being treated to an extra 256MB, making 768mb, and a new Samsung 40GB 5400rpm hard disk to replace the 20gb 4200rpm fujitsu in this machine. Brand new from ebuyer.com.
Sorry to say it but I was fedup with all the messing around and so forth with PM, I admit they did do their best, but their were errors that should not have been made.
Maybe sometime I'll pick up a T22 and disassemble it, pop the SXGA screen in the T23 and cobble together the T22 with my T23's XGA screen, which will work from my extensive research. (Savage IXC/16 is in both T23 XGA and SXGA, unlike the T21 where it is the IX8+ in SXGA and IX8 in XGA models, the T22 has IX8+ in both models).
In all PM have been very good about it, but mistakes were made and too many; so I am happy with a refund.
As usual for myself, I feel like I have messed them around now, and Elad at PM seemed very genuine and feel sorry I wasted his time. But thats just me, to them I am just another customer number I expect, hardly as if they won't find someone who wants the T40 they did sent or the T41 they were going to send.
The T23 shall remain mine for some time yet.
Vicky

PM (PM Distributors Inc.) is an Ebay seller Vicky had a little "misunderstanding" with. You can read the whole story here: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=783

Why didn't I buy from Bill? I would have done, but it seemed he could only offer T42s or a T41p at the time and that was above my budget. When the chance came up to get a brand new, unopened, T40 2373-JU5 (PentiumM 1.5/512MB/40GB HD/SXGA/ATI RADEON 9000/1GB ETH./etc.) for $1549, from a dealer who was reputable it seemed from eBay - I went for it.HKILP7M8 wrote:Who is PM?

Suffice to say for all the help they were, and they were helpful, the whole thing became a farce and I decided to have a refund and upgrade my T23, to 1GB RAM, an SXGA screen (which in fact makes my T23 half T22 and half T23) and a 40gig 5400rpm hard disk), it's now back to being a kick [censored] machine (it always was, it just choked on 512MB and a 20gig 4200rpm drive at times, I made it work and play hard like I do...)

Indeed, a misunderstanding.G-Man wrote:PM (PM Distributors Inc.) is an Ebay seller Vicky had a little "misunderstanding" with. You can read the whole story here: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=783
Just the feedback that has been left for PM:
NEUTRAL: Sold what I won
Reply by pmnyc001: Payment came late. Spoke with customer every day to provide updates and help. Jun-15-04 13:39
That makes me laugh - payment late. If only they sent the details in email quicker AND I did pay in 3 working days. I think they wanted me to pay them on a national holiday or a weekend when the banks were closed
Follow-up by lilslaptops: Indeed v helpful and nice. Bank details emailed 2 me l8, paid in 3 working days.
Enough said. I did make it plain in an email back that they were very helpful and did what they could and I was very grateful but too many errors were made, and I had a right to get a refund and also reflect how I felt about that transaction overall.
On another note...
I shall inform people how successful my upgrading a T23 with an SXGA+ screen from a T22 goes very soon. I believe that this is all possible, even to the extent where I can littlerally swap the entire screen assemblies between the two.

Would be interesting. Can X30 (26721BU) be upgraded to an SXGA too? Yes, it would be a bit squinty, but hey that's me!I shall inform people how successful my upgrading a T23 with an SXGA+ screen from a T22 goes very soon. Snappy,
If you can:
a.) Find such a compatible SXGA+ screen for your X30 in SXGA+ resolution at 12.1" sure. Wouldn't be pleasant
b.) Or you find a 14.1" screen will work minus the fact that it won't fit int the X30s chassis and it will look butt ugly.

Hehe, all in all, I think XGA is your limit hunny!
