#1 Post by TPCollector » Thu Feb 16, 2012 9:30 pm

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone have tried the ThinkPad X1 with the USB Port Replicator with HD Digital Video FRU 45K1615, see link below

It would be interesting if this works.

Thanks!

I have not used this particular one before, but I have used USB 2.0 port replicators similar to this before. You are greatly limited by the bandwidth that USB 2.0 can support. I you are doing it for Video only, it is fine. If you want to use it for 1080p video and ethernet at the same time, you are out of luck.

The USB 3.0 port replicators should eliminate any of those concerns once they hit the market.

I asked a specific question and expecting an specific answer. Don' waste my time reading that you don't know what the answer is.

Be careful if you want to help this jackass, as he has a pisspoor attitude. I simply explained how these devices work, they are limited by the bandwidth of USB 2.0. They all work the same. He then sends me this PM. HA!
