t41/42 - speedstepping concerns and system bus question

#1 Post by katman » Wed Jun 16, 2004 10:33 pm

is it ok to jog the cpu back and forth (ie. 600mhz to 1.7ghz) often?
some applications are sporadic in their cpu usage, causing the adaptive function of the pentium m chip to go back and forth from lower usage to max. is this not advisable? (monitored by mobmeter)

btw, has anyone run intel's proc frequency id utility? my system bus sometimes goes up from 400mhz, to 485, 566, and even higher at times.. kind of werid...

That's the whole point behind speedstep and the advanced speedstep used in the Pentium M proc.
It's perfectly fine and acceptable.
The system bus howver is kind of weird I have used the intel fequency utility and mine stays at 400
