tp link wn861n
used: http://www.command-tab.com/2006/02/26/t ... error-fix/
made iso cd image
Booted, ran, asked to enter "no-1802", pressed enter
another A:> appears and that is it.
Shut down, reboot with old card still in.
Shut down, install new card.
Reboot - fail: 1802 error
I purchased system restore cds online and reinstalled the OS on this laptop - they had many different upgraded software on them than the previous version. Could this be an issue?

You need to take out the wifi card before you apply the hack.

SO, install new card
disable wireless in bios
apply 1802 fix
reboot with defaults
Correct?

No.
Remove wifi card, leave BIOS alone, boot with the no-1802 CD/floppy and apply the hack.
Switch off, install new card, boot, install new driver if necessary.
OR
With old wifi card installed, disable wifi in BIOS, boot with the no-1802 CD/floppy and apply the hack.
Switch off, Install new card, re-enable wifi in BIOS, reboot, install new driver if necessary.

old card in
disabled wifi in bios
ran hack - entered "no-1802" pressed enter
turned off
new card in
restore bios defaults
booted
fail - 1802 error
I even made a second cd thinking the first was made poorly.

I am trying the "no-1802.com" now.
Do I also make this into an iso and run the same way?
I have tried that, it is not working.

Restoring BIOS defaults wipes out the hack!
Leave the BIOS alone, remove any wifi card, apply hack, switch off, install new card, boot, install drivers.
