Using the bottom of an older Thinkpad as a keyboard!

Hi all

I saw this thread, where you have a look inside the Thinkpad USB keyboard.

It appears, that there's a small converter in it, converting the MOLEX stack to USB

So does this mean, that you could connect a standard Thinkpad laptop keyboard straight to USB and use it as a keyboard?
I have got several dead T40 bottom halfs lying around, which could be modded slightly, to fit the small converter board, and then just use this as a keyboard for my desktop PC.

Is this anything any of you have ever tried?
Does it seem possible?
Where can I buy the converter boards?

Looking much forward to your replies. Anything or any experiences will be good. :thumps-UP:

Best regards,
Frederik

Unless you can find a keyboard controller already configured for your keyboard you'd have to decode the matrix and do a bunch of point to point soldering. Probably not worth your time.
