Thinkpad X41 boot hear fans but not HDD, no display?

I closed top and thinkpad went into sleep mode. I got up next day and it would not come out of sleep mode. Rebooted and seen 3 icons turn green 4 if you count battery, hear the fans kick on then shortly after 2 icons go out and fans slow down. I get no display and the only icon staying on is the battery and the tilted Z with circle. I also do not hear the HDD like normal power up also think the HDD icon is the one that looks like a can but it never lights up. I think HDD is bad any suggestions??
