W530 Power Management 6.0 Fubar?

#1 Post by hellosailor » Sun Oct 20, 2013 4:16 pm

Anytime I try to make a change in the Power Manager software, like set the lid closing to sleep the computer, I make the change, click APPLY, click OK, the Power Manager closes and then neatly ignores the changes.

This is with Win7/64, the OS that shipped on it, and fully updated.

Am I the only one? Or has anyone found a way to get the power manager to simply do what it is told?

You'd think Lenono ran out of grade school students to write software or something....

I find that some of the lenovo supplied management software doesn't work properly in some instances (or machines). Try re-installing the latest version of PM, 6.63.1 released last month.

If all else fails, uninstall it and use windows' built in power management interface and install the Lenovo's PM drivers via windows update.

Good luck.

And here I am using 6.32 (quick, squint at the tiny print before it flies away) and the update nags haven't told me it was obsolete yet.

I'd take the old reliable B24 over to China and drop a load of attitude adjustment on Lenono HQ, but [censored], you know what aviation fuel costs when you're doing trans-pacific and back with a full bomb load?!

And my bladder just isn't as young and strong as it used to be. :-(

pep-
You may enjoy this. I couldn't update the power manager using the System Update tool, which opened and then closed. So I tried to update System Update (5) which failed to update, saying it was interrupted. Which it wasn't. Then I restarted and tried to update System Update again, and that worked. Updated SU5 by replacing it with...System Update 4.

Which I tried to run. It ran, and then said it couldn't run because it needed to be updated, and then IT started complaining and started to download System Update 5. Which is downloading now.

or maybe after ten minutes has frozen up? Hmmm....

Wanna take a long cold flight over to China?
