Intel Rapid Storage driver and T430 win7 64 bit

#1 Post by FTC » Wed Oct 23, 2013 5:53 am

Hello, I see that System Update now wants me to install Intel Rapid Storage AHCI driver v. 12.8.0.1016 in my T430 win7/64 installation when my system is not listed under 'supported models' for win7 in the details file.

This may very well be an unintended omission from the details file since win7/64 support has just been added and the chipset on this machine is well supported by RST.

I'd like to know if someone (intentionally or unknowingly) has installed this version (IRST 12.8.0.1016) in a T430 w/win7/64 and can confirm it works.

Thanks

Hi just as a reference, after one month and no reports of anyone's disaster applying this update, I did a full backup and applied the reference Rapid Storage driver 12.8.0.1016 from system update without any problem. So, it seems to work flawlessly also under Win7/64 in my a T430 even if the readme file brings some doubts about supporting this configuration.

The update does strip the Power Manager of the option to automatically power off the optical drive on my T530 with Windows 7 64-bit. This is a reported problem listed on the Lenovo forums through the Lenovo site. Other than that, there are no other problems with the update. So if you use the auto optical power off option, do not install the update.
