Genuine battery causing not-genuine-battery warnings

Hey all,

I'm having battery issues. My searching has found this similar issue, but nothing that actually matches has cropped up.

Basically my T430u has been being annoying by unsuspending itself while in my bag or on my desk overnight. This inevitably results in its battery draining, whereupon it goes into hibernation.

This morning when I turned it on I got a warning about non-genuine Lenovo batteries and that this battery may not charge. Sure enough it has been failing to charge for an hour now.

This is a fairly new laptop and the battery has not been replaced at all.

I am running Linux Mint 15.

Any advice is appreciated!

I spent an hour messing around after seeing a suggestion for a different model to reset the CMOS.

This was a terrible idea. Having been reset it then refused to boot, instead telling me to press Esc to continue or F1 to enter setup, and then completely ignoring all keyboard input.

Somehow I managed to get into BIOS by having it occasionally and unpredictably say "press Enter to go to BIOS" and fix the thing.

But I think while doing all this I managed to charge the battery anyway, perhaps while it was off, so that when I finally came back it was on 10%.

I'm still interested to know whether any of what I did would have helped, or not, so if anyone's got any information I'd be grateful to understand what I just did.
