T430s and unofficial Gobi3000

I was thinking about buying a Gobi3000 for my T430s, but then I noticed that Lenovo branded ones cost like 100$ and Dell branded like 20$ which in my point of view is ridiculous. I searched that older Thinkpad model's had some sort of DRM which prevents non-Lenovo cards from working, but disabling the 20th pin from the card made it undetectable for the BIOS and therefore made it work. Is this the case also on the T430s? And how is the Linux support? Thanks in advance.
