T440 various issues

#1 Post by seward » Mon Feb 03, 2014 1:27 pm

Now it making noises, low pitched, ta-da da-ta.

Sometimes it acts like the ALT key is stuck on, but it isn't. Rebooting is the only fix so far.

It wakes up from sleep and drains all the batteries. I can live with hibernating instead.

When I clock on something in explorer, it stays clicked when I click somewhere else, doing a multiselect. This is wrong behavior for windows.

It's brand new, runs Win 7 sp1.

thx

sounds like a windows issue to me..
think back.. have you installed any other drivers or software or utilities..?
is your antivirus up to date..?

this is the sort of thing that happens to me on most any computer that has either a bad windows install or is loaded up with all sorts of other appps and so forth..

this is not to say it could not be a hardware issue but my first thought is software..
though if it is a new thinkpad Lenovo (and IBM) usually had the preload pretty solid..

I'm a programmer.. I'm pretty careful about not loaded junk on it. i loaded AVG, malwarebytes, mozilla, flash, adblocker, VFP, open office, and some other stuff, but I wouldnt call it overloaded.

new PC new install, it shouldn't be acting up. and someone out there should have similar issues with the keyboard, but I could not find much with Google.
