Battery Question

#1 Post by UMPC2024 » Thu Feb 27, 2014 8:23 pm

I've been using my T430 2342CTO for about 5 months now and just had a question about battery usage and care. I've got the 6-cell slice Li-ion TWL 70+ and it was advertised to go up to 9 hours (which obviously isn't the case). I'm getting about a straight 4 hours per full charge and I've seen some places where people get 6. I'm particular about my battery and got to the point where it's currently 48.05Wh (designed for about 57Wh) after 127 charges. I feel like I'm using my battery in the wrong manner. What kinds of setups are you guys using to make the most out of your battery life?

Thanks,

What is your OS? In linux you have to install one of the power managing software (I recommend laptop-mode-tools or TLP). In Windows I guess there's just the Power Management. Either way, it's also important to configure the software yourself, not just to use default settings. After installing laptop-mode-tools my battery life went from 4 to 6 hours and after customizing settings I have about 7.5 hours of battery life when browsing the internet.

Oh yeah, sorry totally forgot to post my OS information. I have Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit. Thanks for the tips. I will try and play around with the settings this weekend and do a full discharge run to see how much time it takes.

Thanks,

Alright just to update, I created my own battery settings in the Lenovo Power Manager and noticed a lot better increase in my battery life. Also changed my theme to Windows Classic and got rid of superfluous features.

Thanks,
