Unlisted Machine Type for Thinkpad X230

Hello,

I am considering to buy a laptop (X230) second-hand and want to make sure I know what the exact configuration is (I care mostly if the screen is IPS or not). I have the Machine type from the seller (2325-AS6) but I cannot find it listed anywhere on lenovo's websites. I found the following:

http://www.lenovo.com/psref/ (this is the US site)
http://www.lenovo.com/psref/pdf/psref452.pdf (the actual reference document on the US site)

http://www.lenovo.com/psref/we/ (this is Western Europe site - where the laptop is bought from)
http://www.lenovo.com/psref/pdf/tabook_WE.pdf (the reference document for Western Europe)

No luck whatsoever. Any ideas or pointers?

That machine type return info as normal on Lenovo's support site. Having said that, I don't think you'll find info regarding IPS from Lenovo's site. About the only way I know is to have the machine in person and run software to find out.

Hi, yes, you can, as is evident from the PDFs that I linked (and I suppose this is what reference docs are for). There is exact description of some machine types. Just not all of them, apparently as you can see that the one I am interested in is not listed.

Here's an example from the first PDF:

2320-8UU i5-3320M 4GBx1 12.5" HD - this one is not IPS

2320-JCU i7-3520M 4GBx1 12.5" HD Prem - this one is IPS

About the only way I know is to have the machine in person and run software to find out.

You don't need to run software to find out if a screen is IPS or not. And if you cannot see it with a naked eye, then you don't need an IPS screen.

You'd need to know the Serial Number of that machine, and then check the Parts list for it here:

OK, that is what I did in the end - I asked the seller to check in the Parts list with the serial number/machine type configuration. For future reference - here's what this model (2325-AS6) has:

Unfortunately the screen is not IPS, which is a no-go for me.
