T430 NVIDIA NVS 5400M drivers

#1 Post by AIX » Sun Jan 04, 2015 8:31 am

My T430 came with both integrated and discrete graphics, so it's an Optimus model. As Lenovo drivers are pretty old (June 2014, I think), I'm wondering if it's fine to install the latest drivers from NVidia, but I'm afraid to mess up with this Optimus thing.

Have someone did this before? Thank you.

I don't own a T430 so take this with a grain of salt, but I've downloaded the latest available drivers for my (since sold) T420 with nVidia graphics/Optimus from the nVidia site and it all worked flawlessly in W7 64 Pro.

Obviously, YMMV.

Thanks George, if it worked for your T420, then it will work for my T430 too, after all they are pretty similar, just a hardware refresh. From what I've read, Optimus is entirely supported by the NVidia, and doesn't depend on other vendors, so the NVidia drivers should control this thing.
