So I am wondering if anyone ever tried or read anything about this.
What I am trying to achieve here is to extract the Trackpoint out of an Ultranav Keyboard USB (or another external Thinkpad Keyboard with trackpoint and USB).
Basically get a keyboard, delete all the keycaps, saw the metallic part underneath the keycaps off and just keep the trackpoint and the connection of it to the USB. So the standalone trackpoint would be usb pluggable and small.
Anyone ever tried it or knows if this is possible?
Extract only the trackpoint out of an Ultranav Keyboard USB: possible

You would be better off with this, combined with a PS/2 to USB adapter:
