Retro ThinkPad is not there. Interesting model is P50s.
EDIT the link is removed now

I don't believe it at all. Lenovo returned single $0.01 LED disk activity indicator into a $4000 workstation model only. Wireless LED indicator would probably cost another extra $4000. Don't mention 7-row keyboard with proper layout, each key for at least extra $500brchan wrote:Maybe they will incorporate some design elements from feedback into the next machines?

ThinkPads P50 and P70 are being sold in Japan now.jdrou wrote:Basically P50/P70 was supposed to be released in Oct-Nov this year
Still not on the US website though.TTY wrote:ThinkPads P50 and P70 are being sold in Japan now.jdrou wrote:Basically P50/P70 was supposed to be released in Oct-Nov this year

The issue is cutting costs, as usually. We can make spacecraft reaching Pluto but on the other hand we are stuck with a display sizeIbthink wrote:16:10, I don´t know what the issue is. We will see. I do think it will be possible to get such a panel.

Grim reality, especially when you skip the 13bgx wrote:thinkpad 13 is cheap.

No trackpoint no sale.bgx wrote:it is true that configured correctly (2dimm + i5 processor + full HD ips) the thinkpad 13 has not much to be shy about.
it is still the *****Expletives removed by Moderator***** 16:9 but all the laptops are plaggued by it.
you have no vga but no thinkpad has it but the much bulkier L.
It is quite light
it s cheaper than the rest, and you have everything the rest have + usb C.
Could be a stop gap buy waiting for the retro thinkpad. I just wish i had more news about the retro project.

ThinkPad 13 Windows edition has trackpoint and PgUp/PgDn keys.plympton wrote:No trackpoint no sale.
We all agree.plympton wrote:No trackpoint no sale.

It would be THE most interesting tablet on the market, if it were not because of the keyboard attachment. You cannot use it as a laptop, and thats basically one of the biggest designflaws i have seen on the current lineup.brchan wrote:X1 tablet is interesting, but combining the camera, projector, and other features into a single attachable module would be better.
Not sure how that would be better? If I don't need the camera, or projector, why would I want to bring everything along, and why would I want to pay for everything, instead of just picking and choosing?brchan wrote:X1 tablet is interesting, but combining the camera, projector, and other features into a single attachable module would be better.
I hadn't noticed that. Interesting point. Not sure I agree that it is "one of the biggest design flaws" as it brings with it other things that may be an improvement? For example, does that mean I now can have an integrated X1Tablet keyboard that is also a detachable keyboard? That would be cool for me: currently, I sometimes bring my own stand and keyboard with me when I go to a cafe to work with one of my laptops because extended work at a hunched over screen is not ergonomic.QWERTY Andreas wrote:It would be THE most interesting tablet on the market, if it were not because of the keyboard attachment. To use it with a keyboard, you need the "fold out stand", You cannot use it as a "laptop", since you cannot use it on your lap (or any other small surface)
