Windows 7 Pro to 7 Ultimate Upgrade Possible?
Windows 7 Pro to 7 Ultimate Upgrade Possible?
I checked the Upgrade Anytime feature in the Control Panel but that is not active any longer. Is it still possile to perform an upgade to Ultimate without a reload?
If so which disc or edition do I need? Does the same Win 7 Pro COA work with an upgrade?

Could buy an upgrade on eBay, though it looks kind of expensive.

After some looking around I may not need it. I didn't think you could do a system backup to a network drive, but apparently Win7Pro allows this.
I have a USB gender changer on the way to try it out.

Re: Windows 7 Pro to 7 Ultimate Upgrade Possible?
Why would you want the upgrade except for BitLocker capability? If you go to an SSD than you are going to be getting hardware based encryption anyway and won't need BL. What are you trying to accomplish?

Re: Windows 7 Pro to 7 Ultimate Upgrade Possible?
I agree. Windows 7 Pro offers everything you will ever need. If you need encryption, look into truecrypt, a great alternative to bitlocker. With windows 7 pro, you get a less bloated OS but with pretty much the same expanded features as ultimate. Additional features include support for Multilingual User Interface (MUI) packages, BitLocker Drive Encryption, and UNIX application support. It's useful if you are a developer or a tinkerer, but for most power users, those are features just take up space in my opinion.
Here's a full set of features that's included in Ultimate that's not included in Pro:

The last supported version of TrueCrypt is v7.1a.
VeraCrypt is now available and is based on TrueCrypt's code.
