Looking at X1C 3rd gen - only 4GB memory

#1 Post by carl3 » Fri Sep 09, 2016 7:46 pm

As far as I can find, I can't add memory to this configuration. If I am in error, please advise.
It is a decent priced machine still in waranty, but 4GB is not sufficient with onboard video, etc.

TIA

Hi carl3,

As X1 Carbon RAM is soldered onto motherboard, user cannot upgrade (increase) RAM, so you are stuck with your 4 GB RAM should you do decide to buy this particular model.

Shortly after X1C4 came out in Feb 2016, the X1C3 models were neutered with only low specs (low memory, low CPU, smaller SSD).

Good luck!
Daily Driver: X1 Carbon 4th Gen (X1C-4): i7-6600U 2.6MHz; 16GB DDR3 1866 MHz; 1TB PCIe-NVMe; 14" WQHD 2560x1440; LTE EM7455 Mobile Broadband; Win7 Pro 64bit
Current Thinkpads: X1C-4 | X1C-3 | X250 | X230 | T410
Retired Thinkpads: T42 | 560 (circa 1996)

But you can also get those with 8GB soldered RAM.
And there is a super option of 14" WQHD IPS screens if you are so inclined, otherwise they have FHD.
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)
