Lemon W530? Tons of issues.
W530
i7-3740
k2000m
500gb ssd evo 850
1600x900
win 7 pro fresh OS install
BIOS 2.54
Plugged into 170W AC 247 unless transporting it.
Nvidia Quadro K2000m version 21.21.13.7633 5/25/2015
Intel HD Graphics 4000 version 10.18.10.4226 12/11/2016
Realtek WIFI Display VGA Adapter 1005.2.622.2011 6/22/2011
Wifi is the 1x1 11b/g/n Wireless LAN PCI Express Half Mini Card Adapter version 2023.1.1201.2014 1/6/2015
Sometimes says limited access have to trouble shoot, windows always resets it. Forgot error message will post when it happens again.
UPDATE:
"Reset Windows Network Connection" adapter = Completed
Instigate router or broadband modem issues = not run
Issues found
"Wireless Network Connection" Doesn't have a valid IP configuration = fixed
Nvidia Vitrual Audio Device (Wave Extensible) (WDM) version 3.50.2.0 11/25/2016
Realtek High Definition Audio version 6.0.1.8004 11/29/2016
Some shuttering in the Audio, periodic buzzing if that makes sense. Not anything loud and crazy but just enough to be aggravating.
I had another post but it was kind of unrelated sorry if this is a double post.
I've read that the wifi card be set to WPA and the router to WEP and this could cause this issue but I'm very new to all of this so I was looking for a tutorial of sorts. I would appreciate it alot. I'm pretty stumped about the audio. I did have some shuttering a bit in the graphics during gameplay too but Geforce Experience updated to the correct driver and fixed it so far. I may re-paste it since I just got it too be safe but like I said I'm pretty new to PC's and it's software/hardware troubleshooting. I figured this is the best place to ask.
EDIT: Some games/videos shutter no steady fps. along with the audio shuttering buzzing some not all videos and games shutter horribly. Starting to think maybe the MB has issues. God I hope not. No artifacting but the other issues worry me. The issue is both video and audio I believe It's like lag I guess if thats a proper way to explain it. This happens with external speakers and headphones. Wanted to make sure it just wasn't those tiny thinkpad speakers. Stammering might be a better explanation for it. Trying to provide as much information here as possible
New issue. Man this is bumming me out. Shut down to look at BIOS. Shutting down was up for 10+ min. Held power button to do it manually. Removed battery for a few seconds (was told this clears ram?) put battery back in, tried to boot and was given a black screen stating my AC wasn't the correct model for the computer and that it wouldn't charge. It's a Genuine Lenovo 170w 20v AC that came with the PC. PN# 45N0113. Man I hope this MB isn't borked.

Re: Lemon W530? Tons of issues.
If your main object is to play games, get rid of that W530 and look for a nice Alienware or Asus ROG.

Don't use WEP... it's ancient and can easily be hacked.James2406 wrote:I've read that the wifi card be set to WPA and the router to WEP
What? Your W530 doesn't have a GeForce.James2406 wrote:Geforce Experience updated to the correct driver
Power plan set to "energy saver" combined with high CPU load? Or too little RAM? Since you didn't list that.James2406 wrote:EDIT: Some games/videos shutter no steady fps. along with the audio shuttering buzzing some not all videos and games shutter horribly. Better yet; build yourself a nice desktop.RealBlackStuff wrote:If your main object is to play games, get rid of that W530 and look for a nice Alienware or Asus ROG.

Re: Lemon W530? Tons of issues.
To isolate whether this is more a software or hardware related problem, burn and boot from a linux "live" usb stick, such as ubuntu. For games, you should be able to install steam and a few free open source games without rebooting. If you don't get any problems there, then its likely just Windows needing a fresh install.
I also agree that building your own desktop makes far more sense. Much cheaper for equivalent performance.

Also you could check out servers from 2007-2010 era. They are plenty cheap and can offer you VERY high CPU power if you use a dual-socket server but also make sure to get a motherboard with PCIe slot though. You can try to search up the price of a E5450 CPU's price - it is MUCH cheaper than the i7 mobile CPUs up there and with two of that working together it can easily beat most of today's mobile processors

Re: Lemon W530? Tons of issues.
Are you serious? E5450 is based on C2Q concept and that means 771 socket. Means very similar to Q9650 means you will not have enough performance for most cases and current use.
Wait for AMD Ryzen (assumed AMD going to announce them by March), there's choices: and look into older intel older socket 2011 and workstation class like HP T3600, the processor for them is not that expensive and uses PCI-E slots with plenty of lanes)
Cheers, thinkpadcollection
