T42 with an ATI9600 with NATIVE 1024x768

#1 Post by meditate2001 » Tue Jun 22, 2004 8:06 am

Hi,

does any1 knows if there is a special modell of the t42 with an ati9600 (or t2 - but NOT with the 7500) which native resolution is 1024x768 ?

because everything bigger than 1024x768 is really too small for me, but the 7500 card is sooooo yesterday....i really dont get ibm with that,
coz i know that there ARE notebooks with the same ati 9600 card which HAS an native res. of 1024x768. so what is the deal with that ?

thanks,
florian

Um no...

IMO for the $$$ one pays to get a 9600 card, it would be crazy to limit it to a low res screen. Just pump up the DPI if you want larger fonts.

If you want 1024x768 with something better than the Radeon 7500, get a 15" T42p with the UXGA screen. It's native 1600x1200 but runs at 1024x768 in native quality (i.e. no bluriness or other artifacts typically associated with scaling).

so if the 9600 displays the 1024x768 in native quality too, probably the versions with the 9600 on 14,1" ALSO displays the 1024x768 in native quality too ????????? the ati9000 couldnt do that, but the 9600 ?

any1 knows that ? or tried that already ?

I would have thought that you would need thed QXGA screen (the 2048x1536 screen) to get true native (non-interpolated) screen. Pricey but no bluryness. Since the LCD screen has only one native screen resolution. Has anyone used the 1600 rez screen at 1024 and been really happy with the clarity. There's no question that the better screen brightness would help.

The 14.1" SXGA+ does not handle 1024x768 as well as the 15" UXGA handles it. By native quality, I mean really native quality. With all other resolutions you can tell that it's scaled. For whatever reason, 1024x768 just looks perfect.
