My T500 has a very-hard-to-open hinge. A search on Google found me this:

To Fix (Lenovo T500 Hinge Seized) error you need to follow the steps below:

Step 1:

Step 2:

Step 3:
Click 'Fix All' and you're done!

You're simply too impatient, or perhaps you've not upgraded to the NEW IMPROVED Version .00000-1

I downloaded and ran what is an apparently P.O.S. software program on my T61 with a loose hinge, and not only did it fix my loose hinge....

1. It turned my planar into a P50 motherboard with dual Xenon processors and 128 Gb of DDR4 RAM...

2. Changed my screen from a lousy XGA TN panel into the beautiful BOE-HYDIS LED-backlit 1600 x 1200 res viewing display...

3. Re-imaged the BIOS splash screen to delete the Lenovo badge and re-instated the original IBM logo...

4. Added a real HDMI video-out port...

5. Improved the fan cooling capabilities to where I can run the Furmark burn-in program on the new dual-xenon processor and never have the temps get above 40C...

6. Resuscitated my 9-cell battery from barely ten minutes of battery life back to a better-than-new condition, and giving me almost 24 hours of CPU-intensive life... AND...

7. Re-installed all my worn-out keycaps with brand new ones...

In fact, this program is SO useful that I'm going to install it on the lawn tractor this spring.... I expect I'll be able to plow a hundred acres with little effort. The 16 HP engine should be able to easily pull (two) six-furrow, sixteen inch bottom gang plows at twenty miles per hour.... should have the whole farm plowed in under two hours!

I doubt he would have posted the link had it been dangerous. Besides the fact that I have enough virus, ransomware, and malware protection on this system for four computers.
