Thinklight on the Lenovo K21

So the new Lenovo K-series business laptop has a Thinklight.

It also shares removable batteries with 14" Thinkpads, and has touchpad buttons with red stripes. Not even the P series has those.

The keyboard looks bad but could it be substituted with a Thinkpad keyboard?

The Thinkpad line has been deliberately Macbookified! No Thinklight, no removal batteries for the X280 and Carbon, gigantic clickpads - but they can put real Thinkpad features on this.

From what I can gather, its a budget-line meant for Chinese business customers. It has those features because its cheap, as a ThinkLight costs less than a backlit keyboard and Lenovo often has touchpads with dedicated buttons on some budget-notebooks.

I don't think touchpad buttons with red stripes have ever been a thing on ThinkPads – correct me if I am wrong. The red stripes are always on the TrackPoint buttons.

The ThinkPad 240 doesn't have a touchpad, nor do any of the other 1990s ThinkPads. The first ThinkPad with a touchpad was the ThinkPad T30.

You are right, touchpads are rare in the whole Lenovo line until the most recent computers.

I'd love to have one.. a hybrid between the T430 and T450 with a socketed CPU and dedicated graphics like GTX 1060 is what I'd like....

Basically a T450p with a thinklight, backlight keyboard, removable dual batteries, and socketed quad core current gen i7 with a GTX 1060 or 1070 but that would never happen.. lol
