Where is my Thinkpad t42 going?

This is so weird. I ordered my thinkpad t42 sometime ago, and on june 21 it said it shipped. So I am checking the status of the order and where its going and look what it says!

Jun 22, 2004 5:03 P.M. KOWLOON BAY, HK PICKUP SCAN
1:13 P.M. ANCHORAGE, AK, US ARRIVAL SCAN

Alaska?!!?! then to Hong Kong?!?! I live in Ohio, USA!! What is going on? Is this probably just an error? thanks

no error, they are shipped directly from the factory in Hong Kong, then it goes to either anchorage or kentucky for FDA customs clearance then overnighted to final delivery destination

Oh, wow thanks. Ok so I did opt for 2 day shipping. My question is, that it being in Alaska/Hongkong, I will actually get my order tomorrow? Seeing as it shipped on the 21? At least thats what it said, there was actually no activity summary until the 22 however. Still says shipped on the 21.

Actually, it's Hong Kong to Alaska, you have to factor in the International Dateline. Ergo, your laptop left HK at 5:03PM and arrived in AK at 1:13PM four hours earlier of the SAME day!

UPS has an enormous customs entry facility in Anchorage.

unfourtinatly it all depends on customs which are beyond UPS control.

whenever it does clear youll have it the next day

Well I really need this laptop by tomorrow because I'm leaving for vacation the next day, does it look like to you it won't make it on time? Thanks

oh no! Well if I kenw it wasn't going to actually arrive in 2 days, then I wouldn't have paid extra for it! It won't make a differece to me if I don't have it on my trip. I wonder if IBM will refund the shipping fee.........

unfourtinatly they cant, UPS isnt responsibe for customs delays, the FDA is in charge of all that. this is why UPS sends them via overnight when they clear customs
