X230 mini DisplayPort - What Spec's & Compatible Cable?

The X230 PSREF pdf does not state what the spec is for the integrated Mini Display Port on the left side of the X230. I want to purchase a mini Display Port/Display Port cable for my son and prefer to purchase a 4K compatible cable if it is know this will work. The monitor is a Dell UltraSharp U2412M and it features a 1.2 Display Port input. I also just found the maximum resolution of the U2412M is listed as 1920 x 1200 pixels and I thought it could be changed to higher resolution settings. Regardless, the Display Port is know to be superior to HDMI.

Is there anyone here that has resolved these issues before?

I should ad that I purchased an UltraBase Series 3 and we know this features a Gen 1.2 Display Port.

As far as I could find, the Intel HD 4000 which is used in X230, only supports DisplayPort 1.1a:

The maximum resolution of U2412M is indeed 1920x1200.

However, any modern, 4K-compatible cable should be backwards compatible.
