Modifying model/serial number in BIOS

#1 Post by Glaurung-quena » Sun Jan 26, 2025 9:48 pm

I have searched for the answer but google is not being kind to me.

I have a T60 in good working order whose BIOS displays a blank line for the "system unit serial number," and the UUID is all zeroes. I'd like it to reflect the number on the bottom of the case.

I tried using the BIOS update utility to enter a new model number, but the first of the two fields is greyed out, so that's not working. Is there another way to alter the relevant BIOS data?

Get the HMD here.
It includes an option to make a bootable USB-stick.
Instructions here.
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)
But I actually prefer Murphy's from Cork!

That is exactly what I needed, thank you.
