Thinkpad x230t - Backlit Keyboard Not Working

Hi,

Hope this is right place to post this.....need input please.

Just received a nice condition Thinkpad x230t convertible.

However, I can't get backlight on keyboard to turn on.

I've tried fn + spacebar multiple times, but the backlight icon pops up on screen with diagonal slash line through it.

When I asked seller about it, he replied that backlit keyboard is not an option for the x230t.

If that is correct, then why does it have the backlit keyboard in it?

Any suggestions regarding how to get it to work?

If it's defective, any recommendation on where to get a replacement?

Really need/want a backlit keyboard for my uses.

If the lamp-icon on the space bar points towards you, it is not backlit.
If it points towards the screen it is backlit.

Interesting, I had thought only the backlit keyboards had an icon on the spacebar.

Meanwhile, I found a backlit keyboard and purchased it. Hopefully, I'll have it in a week.
