#1 Post by doppelfish » Tue Sep 13, 2005 10:02 am

Call to all owners of a ThinkPad Dock I or Dock II: What card do You use in the half-height/full-height slot of the Dock? Graphics/sound/TV/radio/capture/raid card? Does it work?

Natalie: [to UPS guy] I signed that release waiver, so you can just feel free to stick things in my slot.

First Dock I (Type 2631) @Homeoffice: ATI Saphire PCI Graphics Card (128 MB RAM) with DVI-Output (connected to a Dell 24 inch TFT @ 1920x1200 dpi). Works well.

Second Dock I (Type 2631) @work: Matrox Millenium G450 DualHead PCI (32 MB RAM) with one analogue connector and one DVI connector (used together with an DVI-to-analogue-adapter) (connected to 2x 22 inch CRT @ 1600x1200 dpi). It works, but is is (because of just 32 MB of RAM) a bit slow and when trying to use 32-bit colors, it is not possible to achieve 85Hz on both screens :(

A quick search found me this and that model.

There's TV tuners mounted on PCI cards at probably half the price, which could be occupying the Dock's slot. Are any success reports on that available? My secret agenda calls for my home PeeCee (which I mostly use to watch TV) to be decommissioned as soon as my TP talks to a TV-tuner, freeing up desktop real estate (that of the wooden kind, not the pixely thing Your're looking at right now).

cheers,
