Time for a FAQ update?

#1 Post by HorizontalDropout » Mon Sep 19, 2005 3:23 pm

As a definite newbie, to both thinkpads and to thinkpads.com, I've had a LOT of questions, many of which seem to be pretty comon, all of which tend to come up in the forums, but only some of which are addressed in the FAQ. So here are a few of my suggestions - I think it'd be great if we could come up with a few more to keep the ol' FAQ fresh.

1. The "But xx model doesn't show up in the online store" question. That personal pages link to the "top-level" model listing is very helpful!

2. Some overview of the various buying from Lenovo quirks. E.g. my first thinkpad is sitting in Louisville - I'm sure lots of people get a bit worried if they don't know the dread "PACKAGE WAS DELAYED BY A FOOD AND DRUG ADMINISTRATION HOLD.;BROKERAGE RELEASED SHIPMENT. SHIPMENT IS SUBMITTED TO CLEARING AGENCY FOR FURTHER CLEARANCE" message is coming (and is normal). Other weirdness includes the "Z1" tracking number when the package first ships, the occasional "shipping date moved to three months [or whatever ridiculous amount of time] from now!" website bug, etc.

3. What about a couple links to some of what seem to be the preferred cases for the T,X, and R series? sfbags.com and (I forget)

4. Maybe a short and sweet guide to the len online store? At least mentioning the VISA/MC/AMEX sites?

That's all I've got. Really just the personal pages site and the shipping explanation would be the most helpful, IMHO. Anyone else?
