the original wallpaper for Tseries

#1 Post by ddutta » Wed Nov 09, 2005 12:49 pm

I zapped the XP that came with IBM after backing up the drivers and the app directories. I cant find the nice IBM wallpaper that came with the factory install.

I tried a couple of those. None of them matches with the nice world map that came with the system.

It looks like a world map with vertical lines denoting timezones. I have a SXGA+ display ....

Thanks a bunch.

There are two versions of the worlmap desktop, the one provided on the above link and a darker blue version, same thing almost only the color is way better. The one in the link is sort of bluish/grey and the one that came on my t30 is a dark rich looking blue. If anyone would like that one I could PM it to someone so they could post it as I am not into linking and ftp and all that.

The dark blue version is older. It says "IBM Thinkpad" on the upper-right corner, has different time zone lines for USA and Canada, and the IDL is different.

There are actually multiple versions of this wallpaper for different parts of the world too. Probably three versions, like the active wallpapers.

Actually the IDL is the same, the time zones are the same, the colors are the only thing different. I have both, that is why I posted.

Hmm, perhaps there are three versions of the wallpapers? The dark blue version I have has the different time zone lines, and has thin horizontal lines in the background too.

The wallpapers were nice, but I installed one of the active themes and upon applying, it made my system really unstable... anyone else?

I installed the active thinkpad theme and it is absolutely the coolest, been using my laptop all day at work and have no problems. Also installed it on my t42 with no problems. I want to know if that email thing works on the desktop, anyone know?

Well, that Active Theme can become unstable...as to the Email thing; here is what it does on my T43 Thinkpad.

It Keeps opening and running Thunderbird, my default email client, and shows new messages that way.

It is a very cool theme though 8) :)

I've installed two:

Тема ThinkTheme, and

Тема для ноутбука
(Download Active Think theme, visual indicators for the mobile computer user)

Installed both, haven't tried the first one. The 2nd one is the one giving me trouble, it insists on keeping my Thunderbird open

I guess that the active theme is in love with your thunderbird. :D

This is normal from what I have seen; the theme will always activate whatever program you have selected as your default mail client. In my case, it was much the same. Thunderbird kept coming up and it was started by the Theme. :)

When does it activate Thunderbird? When you click the envelopes, when you look at it...?

It starts it by default. I ended up removing it, it pegs the CPU at 100%, as soon as you end the thunderbird process, it starts another one.

Oh, I SEE. It doesn't poll a POP3 connection setting, it actually uses the client. Lame programming.

I'll have none of that, thanks. I don't like desktop backgrounds running software without my say-so. I DO like the battery indicator and Eth/WiFi indicator on the ThinkPad version.
