NO VOLUME WITH DVD USE....

#1 Post by duane4ta » Fri Jan 20, 2006 12:26 pm

I too, bought a T23, used, online. My 1st Laptop, & I really like it. However, the Volume works fine for all things; i.e. start-up sounds, etc. Then I put in a DVD, it plays, excellent visual, & no SOUND!! I checked my buttons, volume is up all the way, MUTE is OFF, yet no sound @ all. I have tried to fix this thru 'ThinPad' help, etc. , to no avail. If anyone has any thoughts or fixes; I'd sure appreciate it. THANX! Duane 8)

No problem.

Just try a different CD, some CDs have "extras" on them, including videos.

Ok, can you check your device manager and see if you have any exclamations or question marks indicating that something is not properly installed.

Ok, what version of Windows are you using? If you are using XP, do you know if you have Service Pack 1 or 2?

THANX!! No, haven't the foggiest as 2 what the problem was. I played another Audio CD, w/o all the other 'stuff' on it...messed around w/ every Volume knob I could find..on the T-23, & the Media-Player, & eventually...I got sound. SO, then I put in the DVD, & no sound...so, I just started hitting the same sort of audio related buttons...and eventually, I had sound...all the time the Volume indicators showed on & high...guess they just wanted another tweak or caress...I haven't the faintest. I have Windows XP on this guy, don't know if I have any Service Packs...I guess I can check w/ Microsoft to see if I need them...
