T30 CPU speed "under"clocked.
T30 CPU speed "under"clocked.
I've just come accross this site and the wealth of information is fantastic (in fact I solved a few problems already). But I have searched all over this forum for a possible solution, but to no avail.
Here's my situation. I've got a T30 (2366-88U) which is a P4-M 2.0 ghz.
The problem is, no matter what bios settings I use or any changes I make in the ThinkPad Config. Util., I simply CANNOT get the processor to run higher than 1.20ghz!
I've got the latest software/drivers all around (including BIOS and Controller), but I simply cannot get the laptop running anywhere near 2.0ghz.
Any suggestions or example BIOS configurations that you've got working?
Thanks in advance for the help.

Welcome to the Thinkpad Forums
Hmmmm; if you have tried everything you could think of. Perhaps it is throttling itself down because it senses very high temperatures?

She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.

But now it won't be clocking itself down to save power and battery. Not sure you want to do this.chewie wrote:Believe it or not. A simple google searched worked![]()
All I had to do was go to the power scheme and set it to "always on".
Worked like a charm...
Normally, in Portable/Laptop scheme the CPU should automatically change between 1.2GHz in idle mode and 2.0GHz under load.
Also, how do you measure the CPU speed to know that it's running at 1.2GHz?
I used to use Always On, and that has been discussed here before (so searching here would have been beneficial). I switched to ThinkPad default because the computer runs cooler. I also found (Mobile Meter) that the CPU will rise to full speed anytime all the time on demand. Sometimes it is ever short a time on full speed, but it all works. ... JD Hurst
