My first Think Pad

#1 Post by Roy Slade » Tue Jul 20, 2004 8:27 pm

I thought I'd post a picture of my first Think Pad. The user interface is easy to master, the reliability is incredible, and you can't beat the weight and form factor.

LOL. The only problem is its color, it's not black.

I'm new to the Forum and noticed the article about the origins of the Think Pad name. I figured the ThinkPad fans around here might like to see one of the originals. I hadn't thought about the color, but I guess the brown pad went better with the blue suit and contrasting tie.

Stamped on the inside, IIRC, is the IBM part number for replacement note pads. I wonder if you can still order them :)

Stamped inside (in gold letters no less) are the form numbers for the Think Book (#520-6430) and the Think Pad (#520-6431). As far as I've been able to determine, they're no longer available. If you find some, let me know.
