Revisited; x60 vs x60s
Revisited; x60 vs x60s
Okay, so Rexy (the other Nick) raised a couple of questions that made me think...
What do people think are the practical differences between the X60 and the X60s.
Here is my list of differences..
X60s uses the L2400 series chips; low power.
X60s battery life is 10% longer.
X60s is 10% lighter.
X60s is slightly thinner at the front.
Differences that may or may not make a difference.
X60 has 7200rpm drives - but none are listed with this option yet*
X60s has Ultralight panel - but none are listed with this option yet.
It would appear that the only real difference between these laptops is the size, weight & performance.
But that these differences are marginal at best.
What does everyone else think.
What version did you pick and why?

I'm switching from 15" T43 to a X-series, so why not choose the thinnest and the lightest model? Going from the largest to the smallest form factor is exactly what I'm after.
To me, X60 is not attractive at all. X60 will emit more heat, consumes more battery, thicker, heavier, etc - all those that you do not want on such a small portable laptop.
I will be very happy with the dual core 1.66GHz CPU which runs cooler and lasts longer (battery time). I can take X60s wherever I want, and use whenever I want.
X60s seems to make the most sense to me.

I've choosen the X60. As long as I never have a real comparision to a X60s it's light enough for me. I could purchase the X60 with the 8 cell battery for the same prize than the X60s with the 4 cell battery. So the decision was quiet easy for me.It would appear that the only real difference between these laptops is the size, weight & performance.

x60s + 3GB RAM + hybrid harddrive + Vista = now complete silent
